Friday 13th October 2017…for most people this date sounds spooooooooky and if you’re a bit superstitious, you might as well stay in bed all day but not for me! It’s my birthday which I celebrate each year with great pleasure for so many reasons! Grateful for my health and for living in beautiful Provence, and so much more. Anyway, it was a glorious sunny and warm autumn day with a FAT 29C! so we decided to drive to picturesque L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and have lunch outside…somewhere…at the waterfront.
Welcome to La Balade des Saveurs
La Balade des Saveurs is owned by chef Benjamin Fabre who is from l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and his wife Sophie who is from Belgium. The Restaurant has been in business for six years now and they’re still here and basically always almost fully booked so we thought that had to be a good sign ♥
Menu de la Sorgue
We have generally found that restaurants in the Vaucluse awarded Bib Gourmand by Michelin serve excellent food for a modest price. Michelin Guide had awarded a Bib Gourmand to La Balade des Saveurs already back in 2014. Considering the quality and presentation of their dishes, we’d say these prices are extremely reasonable!
I decided to go for the ‘2 plats’ for 14,90€ and Henk who loves desserts went for the Menu complet.
Conclusion
This is really a wonderful restaurant. Amid all of the restaurants serving expensive bad food and wine, this is a little haven of excellent food and hospitality in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. As I said before, DO reserve your table if you want to eat here! On the picture below you find all the necessary info…
Join us for a stroll through L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the literal translation is “Island on the Sorgue (river),” is a small town that straddles five branches of the Sorgue River. The area was swampland in the 12th century when a handful of fisherman and their families built houses on stilts where the town now stands. The Sorgue River has been essential to this area’s economy for centuries providing fish, water for crops and power for industries. Today the towns’ economy is driven by tourism and sales of brocante and antiques.
End of a lovely day!
