Maison d’Anvers, eat well – sleep well – repeat !

Maison d'Anvers (1)

Maison d’Anvers is a real must for anyone who is looking for casual calm and pure gastronomy.

A place to cherish

It is surrounded by vineyards and is located in a Provencal farmhouse in Valréas which is located in the Vaucluse department in southeastern France. Only 8 km away from the lovely village Nyons, which has a fabulous Thursday market !

Love that thatched palapa !

It is a place filled up with lots of truly lovely touches of vintage. The Belgian owners and hosts, Sigi and Vanessa, succeed in making every visitor feel at home in the South of France. With little romantic corners here and there, a petanque area, a swimming pool with separate bar covered with a thatched palapa…they surely added a Caribbean touch. You will understand that ‘once you go Maison d’Anvers, you will always go back’! 🙂

Joviality and gastronomy on an idyllic location

The rustic rooms are not only beautifully decorated but also comfortable and quite spacy. For images of the rooms you can take a look at their website by clicking here! In addition, there is the nice and very cozy restaurant that can be enjoyed on the terrace, in the garden or in the dining room. The restaurant is also open for public.

Their outdoor restaurant with open kitchen !

Sigi is a chef who cooks with respect for the ingredients and creates innovative and perfectly balanced dishes. Assisted by his charming wife Vanessa, as ‘partners in crime’ they reach the ultimate taste experience. Surely do take the effort to make a stop here for lunch or dinner. The table is always neatly set to welcome expected and / or unexpected guests !

Meet Sigi and Vanessa !

Josper

In May, Maison d’Anvers opened the doors of their ‘Mediterranean Sea and Soulfood Grill’.
It is their new outdoor kitchen where everything is prepared before your eyes ‘à la minute’  in their new Josper (see picture below). Euh, say what ? Josper ?
Josper is an elegant combination of grill and oven in one single device. Burning top quality charcoal, in layman’s terms, it is the hottest indoor barbecue available!
It has a front door that, when closed, ensures none of the natural moisture or flavour escapes from the food cooked in it. More often than not, a Josper is described as an oven, though its primary role is as a grill. In short, a kitchen where all is homemade and with fresh produce.

Here’s the Josper !

Great choice of wines

And last but surely not least…a VERY good cellar, filled up with, amongst others, no-nonsense wines from Domaine l’Ancienne Ecole and Domaine Roche-Audran ! And on the (right) picture below, you can see how the empty bottles are being recycled ! Beautiful piece of ART that ‘bottle lustre’ !

Succession assured!

And in case you do not get to go here very soon, we are pretty sure that their little girl Margot will do as good as her parents because she is certainly practicing very hard 🙂 Here you see her explaining the menu to my husband Henk. Enthusiastic, cute and far from timid. The way we like our future host !

Tchin tchin !
Tchin tchin and enjoy your stay !

Some more photo impressions

A special place like this simply deserves to be photographed in order to get that feel, the details, the people, the ambiance. I took quite a lot of pictures and decided to put the entire series on my website. You can click here to enjoy them!
