Best invitation ever! ‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’ in Mazan

30-2

A Place you simply Have to Know

I’ve been wanting to go to this cute little restaurant for quite some time now but somehow it never was the right moment. Well that ‘moment’ has finally arrived since I was recently invited for a birthday lunch by my sweet French girlfriend Brigitte. When she mentioned the name ‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’ in Mazan, I jumped up and down and said ‘Yesssssss, finally! And hop we took off for lunch at the terrace since it was one of those more than gorgeous late September days…
Such a pleasant surprise! ♥

1-2

Convenient Lunch place WITH Parking space

‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’ is a wonderful little Lunch restaurant when passing through the Mazan area.
(I keep putting the focus on LUNCH since they are not open for dinner (yet). That will change though in 2017)
Everything here is homemade with seasonal ingredients. The service is pleasant, fast and prices are correct. And last but not least, it is very easy to find a parking spot since the parking of the beautiful ‘Hotel de Ville’ (City Hall) is just across the street.
So convenient!

Let’s take a peek at the Menu of the Day

9-2

As you can see on the picture above, the menu of ‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’ is not extensive but quality is guaranteed. All fresh produce, full of taste!
The owners are very careful in the choices of their products, they focus on quality and simplicity to find the true taste of food. The menu changes daily.
The best way to find out what Today’s Menu is, is by liking their facebook page!

An Explosion of Flavors

We decided to go for the ‘plat + dessert’ (main course + dessert) which comes at a very reasonable price of 17€ p.p.  Of course we also had an excellent glass of rosé…ONE glass…you read that right…because my friend still had to return to work later on that afternoon 🙂

11-2

Plat / Main Course

As a main course, I opted for the ‘Filet de merlu, Fondu d’Aubergines en aigre doux et sauce chorizo’
(hake fillet, melted eggplant in sweet and sour, and chorizo sauce). A seemingly simple input but with an ExplOsion of flAvors…simply Divine! ♥

18-2

My friend Brigitte chose the ‘Faux-Filet de Boeuf Hogeslag d’Allemagne et Ecrasée de Pommes de Terre à l’huile d’olives’ (beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes with olive oil).
I had a little taste and even though I’m not much into meat anymore lately…I could have digged this one easily.
Sooooooooo good, a very decent peace of meat with lots of flavor and the tenderness…Wowie!

19-2

Dessert

For dessert, we chose to share the two possible options of that day…
First the ‘Brownie au Chocolat, Noix de Pécans caramelisées et Glace Vanille’ (chocolate brownie, caramelized pecans and vanilla ice cream)

23a-2

And secondly, the ‘Cheesecake à la Vanille de la Réunion, Sorbet Citron et Coulis Pêche’ (vanilla cheesecake, lemon sorbet and peach coulis)

21-2

And even now, we keep the memory of the best dessert we’ve ever eaten! ♥

Birthday Treat

Two cups of coffee were ‘on the house’ and Brigitte’s dessert had that special extra touch for her birthday…one candle (instead of 52 😉 )
Ain’t that sweet ♥

General Impressions of the Day

Basically, with 300 days of Guaranteed Sunshine per year in Provence, one is spoiled and sooooo used to eat out on the terrace all the time but in case it does rain, there’s a space inside for you of course at ‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’. Here are some impressions of their awesome spot and of the two CHARMING owners, Amélie L’hôte et Clément Bazin.
They are simply the Sweetest! ♥♥

 Slurp Slurp

As in any place in Provence, ‘Restaurant L’Ardoise’ is VERY proud of their LOCAL wines! Each restaurant has their own favorites of course but basically they will always serve wine of the producers of their own & neighbouring village(s). Take a good look at the chalkboard…there are some LOVELY ones on there! ♥

13a-2

As usual but not taken for granted, I would like to thank all my followers for your kind attention. Stay tuned…lots more coming up this fall!
À la Prochaine!
