‘Au coin des Figuiers’… a hidden gem in Sarrians

huis13-2

If you’re looking for some true Soul in the heart of Provence, under the watchful gaze of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail, “Au Coin des Figuiers” is truly THE place to stay!  A character-filled family home from the 18th century, transmitted by their grandparents, Aude and François have transformed this Provencal farmhouse into a small paradise, surrounded by a fabulous garden and lots of trees, with swimming pool and a sheltered eating area.

Around the house

We visited this charming Chambres d’hôtes on our very last day of our 2015 stay in Provence, end of October, before heading back north for the winter. It felt like a warm spring day but the colors of nature reveal autumn. Nevertheless, this charming place remains a lovely restful spot for a serene holiday in any season. And yes, this is one of the few places which is open ALL YEAR ROUND.

Especially autumn is perfect for nature lovers who enjoy hiking or for cycling enthusiasts who like to discover this area full of easy paths. And if it gets boring, there is always the giant Mont Ventoux to challenge! Of course, not everyone on holiday in Provence is into physical activity. Some people simply like to hang around the house and read a book in the sun or visit places such as Avignon and many other picturesque villages nearby.

Spring impressions

End of April 2016 we headed back to this wonderful paradise and look what we found…a lovely front porch in full bloom!

A glimpse inside

The house boasts a relaxing atmosphere. Credit for this goes to both artistic owners. Aude, interior designer, has an incredible eye for detail and created that touch of soft feminine elegance. François on the other hand is responsible for that robust edge, especially due to the choice of natural materials such as natural stone, tadelakt and lime coatings. You can take a closer look by clicking on each image…

Summertime at the pool

After all the exercise of the day or that well deserved siesta after lunch, it is time to enjoy some serious sunbathing at the pool. And for those who get thirsty or hungry, they can meet in the cute ‘summer kitchen’ to sip an orangeade or enjoy a simple meal 🙂

Bedtime

Rooms1-2

The B&B offers 3 guest rooms with each a separate outside entrance, a private WC and shower. Also here the excellent taste of both French owners is reflected. Man, if you can’t get any sleep here, I don’t know where…Take a look!

French owners

So far I have only written articles about ‘places to stay’ owned by Belgians. Not really odd of course since I’m Belgian myself and because Provence is full of Belgians, all seeking that Perfect Paradise.
But finally my first article about a french owned B&B!
François is always ready to welcome you with a Big 🙂 , making sure you are comfortable and preparing breakfast with products from his fruit and vegetable garden. The fresh figs, pomegranates and jams of course being part of the breakfast menu! And Aude has put her mark on this place as an interior decorator…that girl has TASTE!

Yes indeed Larry. I am looking forward to photograph this one again in full summer modus…such a peaceful, pretty but especially ‘down-to-earth’ place. And an area we actually never visited before so quite interesting for us too. Thank you for your reaction and have a great weekend!
