B&B Silence Des Grillons, a flawless Belgian spot in Provence !

Silence Des Grillons (50)
“Enjoying the kitchen of a country, is already loving the country.”

Belgians love Provence and Provence loves Belgians ! Why ? Simple, Belgians are generally known as ‘bon-vivants’, enjoying good food, culinary art, exquisite restaurants, excellent wines and…cycling ! 🙂 All the more a reason for Belgians to come on holiday to Provence (only a 1000 KM drive away) but even more so to start a new life in Provence.

Meet the Rymen family !

Paul and Caroline Rymen and their two lovely little girls opened up their B&B Silence Des Grillons, early 2013, in a picturesque hamlet called Les Bastides, in the village of Méthamis, neighbouring our Malemort-du-Comtat.

A new life

They traded in their busy indoor lives and the Belgian gray skies for a brand new one. Filled with clean air, 300 days per year of sunshine, peace and quiet, outdoor activities such as daily walks with the dog and kids, organic cooking and growing their own vegetables ! Next thing you know Caroline opens her own ‘bio boutique’ 😉
And last but not least, they were used to a busy social life in Belgium, something they can continue here in Provence but in a different way, by having guests over all year round in their B&B Silence Des Grillons. That’s what I call ‘killing two birds with one stone’ ! Please do click on each picture to enlarge…and discover flawless Perfection !

And some more ‘why’s’

Theater festivals, spectacles, brocantes and vide-greniers take place all over the Provence. Mont Ventoux for cyclists (and photographers), the ‘Dentelles de Montmirail’ for hikers, picturesque villages and beaches along the Mediterranean Sea…

Their formula

Everyone knows that B&B literally stands for Bed & Breakfast. But besides an ultra healthy and nutricious breakfast, Caroline and Paul offer their clients, if enough guests sign up, two nights per week an evening dinner which is called ‘Table d’Hôtes’ (Host Table). This meal usually consists of a healthy appetizer, a crunchy salad or equivalent, and a main meal such as pasta / fish / meat / poultry. As I said before, Caroline loves cooking, especially with organic and local products, and that shows ! Doesn’t this look YUM !

Summer outdoor kitchen

For the ones who prefer to cook themselves, they can use the ‘cuisine d’été’ (outdoor summer kitchen). This is a lovely separate summer corner, with a touch of vintage, around the corner of the swimming pool and very private. There you can also store your own bought foods and drinks in the refrigerator. Also a dishwasher and a barbecue are at your disposal. Personally, this is my favorite spot !

Poolside

For guests who want to consume a drink at the pool there is a fridge filled with ice cold drinks, Belgian beers, typical Provencal rosé and white wines, at reasonable prices. Remember, you’re staying with Belgians in Provence ! 🙂
