Charming lunch @ Bar ‘La Grange’

Crillon-le-Brave (21)

We had visited the wonderful perched village Crillon-le-Brave several times but never took the time to stop for lunch or dinner. With two lovely American friends over from Virginia, we thought this was the perfect occasion for a girls’ lunch out at Bar ‘La Grange’, which literally means ‘the barn’.  Such a wonderful zen place…discretion and elegance being the keywords.

Hotel Crillon-le-Brave

Hotel Crillon-le-Brave is a member of  the “Relais & Châteaux” association since 1995. We had definitely seen the property mentioned on several “Best of Provence” lists and the gleaming metal plaque that you see on your left of the picture below induced a further confirmation.

Restaurants

Hotel Crillon-le-Brave Restaurant is part of the 32 room Hotel Crillon-le-Brave. Below on your left of the picture you see the separate entrance to the various restaurants.

Entrance to the restaurants

In addition to two evening dining options, Restaurant Jérôme Blanchet, a formal gastronomic restaurant and the more casual Bistrot 40K, a moderately priced ‘à la carte’ lunch and menu is served from 12h30 to 15h30 at Bar ‘La Grange’ and on the main terraces of the hotel, with a STUNNING view over the valley. Apéro

After all the ‘ooooooohs’ and ‘aaaaaahs’ upon arrival at the amazing view over the valley, we finally got to ordering. Starting out with of course a glass of wine. Since we wanted to keep it light, a ‘pichet’ of house rosé would have been fine for us but that was not possible. Thus a bottle instead 🙂  As a ‘housewine’, the Château Valcombe Epicure 2014 Rosé was recommended to accompany lunch. Delicious as always…

If you’re interested in reading more about this Domaine, you can click here to read a separate article I wrote about Château Valcombe.

Lunch

Since we had another appointment after our lunch we were obliged to order something really small ‘à la carte’ because we were running out of time. This is a big mistake I will never make twice ! Once you are settled on your seats of this lovely terrace and enjoying the tranquility and the excellent wine, you simply cannot and do not want to leave within too short of time. Enfin, a lesson learned and here is what we got to enjoy. I went for an omelet with vegetables and my US friends went for the obvious Club Sandwich with french fries…As I said, small but delicious. In case you do have enough time, I recommend you to go for the lovely three course menu for the price of 33€ p.p.

Dessert

Lack of time or not, we could not resist ordering some dessert 🙂 So colorful and beautifully presented, truly a feast on your plate. Also here, please do click on each image to enlarge and get those tastebuds dancing !

It is not every day you get mentioned on a Twitter account of a top notch hotel in Provence ! I am quite honoured !
